The proposal is to maintain the light industrial use at basement level (B1) and provide a micro-brewery which will provide ales for use in the restaurant/bar above as well as providing for other outside companies. Change of use from industrial to restaurant/bar (A3) at ground and first floor levels is also proposed.
A new fully glazed frontage is proposed will provide clear demarcation of the building entrance as well as providing a more dynamic elevation from the street with views deep into the ground floor restaurant/bar areas. The large timber entrance to the left of the main entrance is to be retained.
The ground floor provides a large bar area to east side of the building with toilet provision and a kitchen area to the rear of the building. The remainder space at ground floor is populated with seating/tables for use for the restaurant/bar. A new feature stair is to be provided giving access to the first floor area.
A secure staircase also gives access to the basement area. The basement provides all functions required for the micro-brewery.
The existing well walls are to be built up to ground floor level with a toughened glazed lid installed. The inside of the well will be illuminated which will pride a feature at ground floor level as well as highlighting part of the buildings history.
The first floor provides a large bar area to east side of the building with toilet provision and a staff area to the rear of the building. The remainder space at first floor is populated with seating/tables for use for the restaurant/bar
Mike at Evolve Architects has done work for me on both domestic and commercial properties. The most recent project is a complex conversion to brewery/restaurant of a prominent, village located, Victorian building which was previously industrial use. Mike is a highly intuitive and creative professional who has an immediate grasp of the client’s needs and is able to translate this to a workable project in short time frames. I would have absolutely no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Mike to undertake any project in the future.
